MNWB Information Booklet Design
Recently designed and printed was this information booklet for Fishermen and boat owners.
The guide has been produced for the Merchant Navy Welfare Board (MNWB) in consultation with the Fishermen’s Mission, Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), Nautilus International and the Fishing Industry Safety Group (FISG). Its aim is to inform and assist all those with an interest in commercial fishing, from vessel owners and skippers to crew from all nations and those in the maritime charitable sector who may be unfamiliar with fishing, to understand the legal welfare standards applicable to fishing vessels.
The International Convention was introduced to improve safety and welfare for commercial fishermen around the world – we all have a role to play in ensuring it makes a real and positive difference to our hard-working fishermen.
Design and Illustration
In consultation with the client it was agreed that the design of the guide needed to be friendly and accessible. It was decided that a range of illustrations emphasising the text would help break up the text. The use of these cartoon style illustrations does make the otherwise text intensive guide easier to digest. Profile design are able to offer a wide range of illustration styles to complement any project.
This particular guide needed to be pocket sized as it was hoped that users would keep with them on board the vessel. The Dl size is perfect for this purpose. The finished print was also matt laminated to give the guide a degree of water resistance.
As well as the production of this guide Profile have also been commissioned to re-design the MNWB logo. It is always a challenge to re-design the logo of such an established Charity with a long history. After producing a wide ranging series of design options a final design was agreed and is awaiting its official launch (watch this space)
